The food we love

Don’t underestimate our little village’s restaurant offering – it may be limited, but it’s good (and getting better!). The surrounding villages, nearby Pézenas, and not too far afield offer a wide variety of great eateries that cater to all tastes and budgets. Here are a few of our favourites (not necessarily in order of preference). If you come across a gem of a place, please let us know so that we can include it here for other South to South visitors to enjoy.

Les Valseuses, Caux

Les Valseuses (which translates as The Waltzers) was formerly known as Le Baliverne. Under new ownership and with Chef Eric at the helm, the space has undergone a quirky, playful makeover. We eventually had an opportunity to have a meal there recently and oh, boy, was it so worth it! The food is fresh and wholesome and delicious.

Two of us had steak with chimichurri sauce on potato puree, and one of us had tuna with hummus and veg (photo above). Everything was packed to the brim with flavour and we all ate to the very last morsel. They have a good wine list, even though we enjoyed our food so much we hardly came up for air, never mind wine!

The nice thing is, it’s a very, very short stroll down the road from South to South, so you can indulge in that extra glass of wine – and if you do a little walkabout after dinner, there’s certainly room for dessert, too.
